Mogadishu University is pleased to welcome Professor Serra M. Hakyemez as a Visiting Professor for the spring 2026. Hakyemez is an assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology and the Institute for Global Studies at the University of Minnesota. Her current work includes research on humanitarian aid and development in the reconstruction of “post-conflict” Somalia.
Mogadishu University warmly welcomes Professor Hakyemez to its academic community. Her visit is expected to strengthen scholarly exchange, support research engagement, and contribute to academic dialogue on the Horn of Africa, humanitarianism, law, and contemporary social and political transformations.
During her stay at Mogadishu University prof. Serra will teach courses at the faculty of political science and deliver workshops and hands on training for both graduate and undergraduate students at Mogadishu University. She will also be leading research trainings and grant methods.
