Mogadishu University hosted a formal welcome and orientation ceremony, highlighted by the address of Mogadishu University president Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed Mursal.
The O-Week ceremony kicked on Wednesday 15 October 2025 for newly admitted students of batch 29 for the 2025/2026 academic year with informative events planned for the nearly 2000 new students who will learn on campus. It’s also filled with activities to help students learn about the university history, rules, services and opportunities.
The newly admitted students will pursue various degree programs from different faculties.
In his remarks, Dr. Ibrahim congratulated the students for earning a place at Mogadishu University, urging them to remain focused, disciplined, and uphold the highest standards of academic integrity. He strongly cautioned against cheating in examinations and emphasized the importance of integrity in shaping ethical and competent health professionals.
“Many great leaders and professionals have walked through these halls and gone on to serve Somalis with distinction in high positions locally and globally. You too have the potential to excel if you remain disciplined and committed to your studies,” Dr. Ibrahim emphasized.
The new students were also introduced to their deans and Section Heads who warmly welcomed them into the Faculty. Each offered words of encouragement, emphasizing resilience, professionalism, and a commitment to service as guiding principles for success in their academic and professional journey.
The orientation marked the beginning of an exciting journey for the incoming class, who now join a vibrant academic community known for producing some of Somalis and the region’s most respected professionals.
Every year, student affairs office organizes an orientation event which is designed to balance the needs of the students to know what a successful student means at the university with events and activities that build community, create engagement and develop friendships.
