Mogadishu University signs MOU with Somali Civil aviation Authority to enhance collaboration on civil aviation industry

Mogadishu University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Somali Civil aviation Authority, the national body under federal ministry of transportation and civil aviation to offer specialization and trainings in Aviation.

Both signed the partnership agreement in a brief ceremony took place at administration campus in Mogadishu on Thursday, 25th of January with the presence of deputy federal minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mr. Ahmed Omar, director general of civil aviation authority, Ahmed Moallim Hassan and president of Mogadishu University, Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed Mursal, putting their signatures on the agreement which is expected to thrive in the aviation sector.

MU president emphasized that “Collaboration remains at the core of our efforts to boost aviation industry. However, we recognize that achieving this goal requires commitment, working together with agencies and institutions that share similar objectives”.

He praised Somali civil aviation management for their efforts in signing this historical agreement, highlighting the importance of collective efforts to enhance aviation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Somali civil aviation authority director general, Ahmed Moallim said “we are pleased to grab this opportunity to develop fields of aviation”. This partnership with Mogadishu University will empower us to strengthen the Aviation Industry,” he added.

Notably, Mogadishu University has previously entered into similar MOUs with various governmental and international institutions to foster collaboration in areas of common interests.

Mogadishu University has been listed among the leading universities in the Arab world

According to latest rankings released by the association of Arab Universities on Thursday Mogadishu University was placed 134th among 180 Arab universities that were ranked. This ranking of 2024 edition of Arab raking for universities has assessed key performance indicators include: Teaching and learning index, scientific research index, Creativity and innovation index and international outlook. Mogadishu University’s ranking among the Arab world and other rankings highlight the immense potential of Somali academic institutions as it serves a reminder, despite decades of conflict and instability in the country that the learning institutions in Somalia can compete on an international scale. As one of Somalia’s premier institutions, Mogadishu University has played a vital role in the country’s development, producing leaders, educators, and innovators who are shaping the nation’s future. Mogadishu University in China

Our Vice President for Relations and Development, Mohamed Ali Omar, attended the Annual Conference of China-Africa Consortium of Universities Exchange Mechanism in Beijing, China. The conference centered on China – Africa higher education cooperation and development in the digital age. The conference brought together university leaders from both China and Africa to promote collaboration in higher education. During this event, the Vice President engaged with prestigious institutions, fostering opportunities for academic and research partnerships that would benefit Our university and its relationships with universities across Africa and China. As part of his efforts to establish fruitful academic collaborations, the Vice President signed a collaborative agreement with Qilu University. This agreement aims to strengthen academic ties and facilitate exchange programs between the two institutions, furthering the internationalization of Mogadishu University​.
