Mogadishu University signs an MOU with Qatar University

Mogadishu University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Qatar University to enhance partnership and cooperation between the two sides.

This agreement aims at strengthening the horizons of scientific cooperation in the service of the mission and common goals of both institutions in order to conduct research, exchange of experts and all areas of common interest.

The memorandum of understanding was signed at Qatar University headquarters in Doha, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mogadishu University, Dr. Abdulrahman Abdullahi, the former President of MU, Dr. Ali Sheikh Ahmed, and a member of the Board of Trustees and President of Qatar University, Dr. Hassan Al-Daraham. The cooperation between the two universities will be based in exchanging experiences, research studies, holding joint conferences and symposiums.

Dr. Abdulrahman expressed his happiness in signing the memorandum with Qatar University, which comes within the framework of fruitful cooperation between Mogadishu University and international institutions working in the field of research and higher education, indicating that Mogadishu University seeks, through these memorandums, to strengthen aspects of scientific and technical cooperation in the field of research and knowledge production.

وقّعت جامعة مقديشو مذكرة تفاهم مع جامعة قطر لتعزيز الشراكة والتعاون بين الجانبين

وتهدف الاتفاقية الى ترسيخ آفاق التعاون العلمي خدمة للرسالة والأهداف المشتركة من أجل  إجراء البحوث وتبادل الخبرات وكافة المجالات ذات الاهتمام المشترك

وقد وُقِّعت المذكرة في مقر جامعة قطر بالدوحة بحضوركل من رئيس مجلس أمناء  جامعة مقديشو الدكتور عبدالرحمن عبدالله والرئيس السابق للجامعة الدكتورعلي شيخ أحمد  وعضو مجلس الأمناء ورئيس جامعة قطر الدكتور حسن الدراهم. وبموجب الاتفاقية؛ سيتم تعزيز التعاون بين الجامعتين في تبادل الخبرات والدراسات وعقد المؤتمرات والاجتماعات والدورات التدريبية

وأعرب الدكتورعبد الرحمن د عن سعادته بتوقيع المذكرة مع جامعة قطر التي تأتي في إطار التعاون المثمر بين جامعة مقديشو والمؤسسات الدولية العاملة في مجال البحث العلمي والتعليم العالي، مبينًا أن جامعة مقديشو تسعى من خلال هذه المذكرات إلى تدعيم أوجه التعاون العلمي والتقني في مجال العلم والمعرفة

Kick-off Meeting for the PURSUE Project

Mogadishu University is honored to be part of the Promoting Sustainable, Affordable Housing Construction Technologies Using Environmentally Sound Locally Available Resources (PURSUE) Project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ CBHE program. The project’s Kick-off Meeting took place from February 17–21, 2025, at the Dar Es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) in Tanzania, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss the project’s objectives, implementation strategies, management plans, and long-term impact. PURSUE is a collaborative effort of eight partner universities from Somalia, Tanzania, Mozambique, Turkey, and Portugal. The project aims to develop innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective housing technologies by leveraging environmentally friendly, locally available materials. By enhancing technical skills, strengthening university infrastructure, and fosteringresearch in Civil Engineering, PURSUE seeks to address critical challenges in affordable housing while promoting sustainable development. Mogadishu University is committed to actively contributing to this transformative initiative, engaging in knowledge exchange, research collaborations, and capacity building to equip staff and students with essential skills and expertise for the future. We look forward to working alongside with our esteemed partners to drive innovation and sustainability in the housing sector.

Mogadishu University co-organizes a high-level conference on digital and innovative education in Kenya

Mogadishu University co-organized a high-level conference focused on digital and innovative education for migrant and internally displaced persons (IDPs) communities. Held in Mombasa, Kenya, this conference was part of the Inclusive and Innovative Digital Education for Migrant Communities in Kenya and Somalia (IIDEMIC) Project. This initiative is collaboratively implemented by six universities from Somalia, Kenya, Turkey, and Poland, and is co-funded by ERASMUS+ CBHE.The IIDEMIC Project aims to equip teachers in migrant communities with essential 21st -century soft skills to enhance their entrepreneurial competencies. In addition to the participating universities, the conference gathered prominent academics, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss, strategize, and evaluate advancements in educational initiatives for migrant communities. Representatives from the Ministry of Education and Research in Kenya, the Ministry of Interior, and various organizations shared valuable insights on policies, educational services, and sustainability in refugee education.

Faculty of Political Science and Public administration, Department of International Relations has co-hosted today an online lecture on: “Peace and Security in the Horn of Africa: State of Play and the Way Forward, Focusing on Somalia”

The program started with Opening Remarks by Ahmed Abdel-Latif, the Director-General of the Cairo International Centre for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding (CCCPA), and by Fumio IWAI, Ambassador of Japan in EgyptThe guest speaker was Prof. Hideaki Shinoda, a distinguished professor at the Graduate School of Global Studies, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. This was followed by comments and questions.This event, which facilitated by the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) and the Japanese Embassy in Egypt, attended more than 50 participants.
