As Part of Faculty of Medicine of Mogadishu University’s Vision to be the leading institution for patient centered care, the faculty of medicine is conducting Community outreach programs and started with free eye screening that will be conducted regularly among school children and other high-risk groups.
In this digital world, students are involved in excessive usage of computers and other electronic gadgets that affect negatively the health of student eyes.
Undiagnosed eye condition or impaired vision will lead to academic low- performance and our school eye screening programs are intended to address this issue, offering free eye checks to school children across the country.
Faculty of Medicine, department of ophthalmology’s dedicated teams of ophthalmologists and allied health professionals will be regularly visiting schools in areas that are identified as high risk to test the eyesight of all children, provide free treatment to those who are diagnosed with an eye abnormality and raise awareness of eye health amongst children.
School eye screening programs are designed to educate and train teachers to recognize early signs and symptoms of deteriorating eyesight and eye ailments and refer students to the hospitals and clinics. Today we have screened over 100 students and gave talk to the children and teachers at Mogadishu International School.
