Bachelor of Public Administration

The Bachelor of Science in Public Administration is a professional degree designed to prepare students for administrative careers in government and nonprofit organizations. For those already employed, it provides an opportunity to improve administrative skills and enhance career prospects and mobility. The public administration curriculum is comprehensive, covering public sector institutions, the central functional areas of modern administration, and a range of valuable and relevant analytical skills. It is designed to produce managers with an understanding of modern organizations, sensitivity to political realities, a grasp of management methods, and knowledge of the analytical tools needed to illuminate substantive issues. Public Administration Department Goals

Within Public Administration Department, the student will:

  1. Communicate effectively in writing and oral.
  2. Demonstrate basic understanding of theories, concepts and practices relevant to public administration and its sub-fields;
  3. Work independently according to modern management approaches in executive and leadership positions.
  4. Understand future problems and challenges related to managing human capital and other resources.
  5. Analyze contemporary social problems in Somali through the application of public administration concepts and theories;
  6. Multiple perspectives and different methodologies in the quantitative and qualitative analysis in solving administrative problems
  7. Demonstrate the appropriate skills to be able to administer public programs in their chosen subfield of public administration in particular public management, healthcare administration, nonprofit management, and environmental administration;
  8. 6. Respect work ethics and rules by imparting the values that express the contemporary organizational culture
  9. Demonstrate proficiency in clear oral and written communication by presenting succinct, well-organized materials and analysis tailored to the needs of their audience.
