Course Description

Data warehousing is a major area of exploration for knowledge discovery in databases. Data Warehousing has become an essential business tool for decisions making .
This course will cover the core concepts of Data Warehousing and it's applications to business intelligence. The course aims to cover topics like: requirements gathering for data warehousing, data warehouse architecture, clustering, association rules, classification, dimensional model design for data warehousing, physical database design for data warehousing, extracting, transforming, and loading strategies, introduction to business intelligence, design and development of business intelligence applications, expansion and support of a data warehouse, Star schema, fact tables and dimension tables will be examined. SQL Server Integration Services will be used for implementing data warehouse

  • 1. Learn and describe the basic components of a basic data warehouse system
  • 2. Complete a data warehouse design based on the requirements definition of a business problem
  • 3. Create a prototype data warehouse using established principles discussed in class
