33147 The study of first Language Acquisition
Course DescriptionThis is an introductory course focusing on issues related to first language acquisition. It introduces the student to some considerations of the nature of language and language acquisition. Then ideas and research that inform the study of First language Acquisition are discussed. Other aspects of this field will be surveyed and discussed to contribute further to the understanding of language acquisition processes. Topics covered will include: the acquisition schedule, the acquisition process, developing morphology, developing syntax and developing semantics. Examples will be taken from Somali as a first language.
