33142 Somali Literature

Course Description

As a native topic to be taught to students who are native speakers of the Somali language, the Somali literature is intended to win the real appreciation of the students. Both prose and poetry are to be taught. As a national literature, the Subject is required to be studied as a cultural background as well as literary appreciation.
Text touching basic social life is to be selected. works of prominent poets like Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Hassan, Qaman Bulhan, Ali Dhuh, Salan Arabey, Osman Yusuf Kenadid, Mohamed Ibrahim Hadrawu, Abdulle Rage, etc should be taken as exemplary sample. The role, importance and prestige of the poet and literature in the life of the Somali society are expected to be highlighted patriotic poets and prose excerpts should receive particular consideration. Students are expected to reel the influence of the Somali literary works and their social and political concept and impacts of the literary message in movements.
