(01- Jan – 2018) An Honoring Ceremony for Mogadishu University Outstanding Students

Each year, MU Students’ affairs office holds an honoring ceremony to those students who have made significant achievements in their academic performance. This year, on January 1st, 2018, students’ affairs office organized special event to honor last academic years’ outstanding (number one) students from all departments of the University for the Exams sat in the academic year of 2016/2017.

The participants were the honored students, their parents (to witness their children’s achievements) and some of the university administration. The aim was to congratulate and encourage the student to keep up that way; and also to show the parents the good results of their great efforts.

Among the key spears ware the MU vice president for relations, director of MU students’ affairs office, the director of MU institute for Somali studies, parent representative and some of the students. The students expressed their feelings and showed how happy they are to become the most outstanding students identified from the thousands of Mogadishu university students. On the other hand, the parents stated that this is a real appreciation of the efforts they have made and showed how satisfied and proud of they are with their children’s academic achievements. Finally, the university administration praised the students with the efforts they made to reach that far and hoped them for many future successes.

(26 – Dec – 2017 ) On Thursday, 21st December 2017, Mogadishu University representative, Eng. AbdisatarArabow, prticipated a three-day workshop on CAMPUS WIRELESS NETWORKS AND MONITORING held in East Africa University compass in Garawe, Puntland. The workshop was organized by Somali Research and Education Network, (SomaliREN.)

The purpose of the workshop was to develop technical skills of network engineers of the member universities affiliated to SomaliREN. The participants of this workshop discussed the principles and components of designing scalable campus wireless network and monitoring services. The training adopted 40-60 concepts and theories to hands-on exercises ratio. At the end of the workshop, participants shared ideas of how to maximize benefits of the learned lessons to utilize them at their home institutions.


(25 – Dec – 2017) Today, Monday, 25th of December 2017, Mogadishu University Relations and Academic councils with the presence of the President’s office held a special meeting to honor and congratulate Fardowsa Isse  who has recently won the prestigious national award of the teacher of the year. Fardowsa is Mogadishu university alumni especially a graduate of faculty of education. Mogadishu University vice presidents for relations and academics welcomed Fardowsa at the Mogadishu university administration headquarter and congratulated her for being such a hardworking and valuable member of the society, and hoped many years with ample of achievements.

Finally, Mogadishu university administration awarded Fardowsa with a certificate of honor and appreciation; and advised her to keep that way of servicing to the Somali society, especially the education sector whereby Fardowsa showed her talent as a competent young school teacher.



(16 – Dec -2017) Mogadishu University faculty of Engineering arranged a seminar about “Road Safety Engineering” for the senior faculty students. Abdiaziz Mohamed Abdulle, an Eng. from the United Kingdom was the key speaker, and the workshop was intended to share advanced knowledge and experiences about the traffic safety and its applicability in the Somali context. The seminar was helpful for the students to understand the role of engineering in road safety and how to develop solutions for high risk locations. Eng. Abdirahaman Ismail Dhaquane, Dean of the Faculty, conducted the full program. Also, our international lecturers Eng. Aminul Islam Sohan and Eng. Shamim Ahmed khan delivered their speeches in the program as well.

(28 – Nov – 2017) Institute for Somali Studies Organizes Its Third  Annual Conference Under The Slogan “Revisiting War-torn Somali Society : Resilience and recovery”.

The Annual Conference on Somali Studies (ACSOS) is an academic conference on Somali Studies organizes by Institute for Somali Studies annually since 2014.

(28- Oct – 2017) Mogadishu University representative in Malaysia Dr. Dahir Haji Osman has participated the Asia e University’s (AeU) 7th convocation ceremony and the International Partners Dialogue (IPD) for the conferment of its graduates along with our postgraduate partnership program held at Dewan Merdeka, Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Hence, it was a great pleasure for us to take part of the AeU 7th convocation ceremony and we would like to offer our warmest congratulations on AeU students with our postgraduate students for their successful achievements after many years of hard work and commitment.
