( 12 – June –  2017 ) The workshop organized by Mogadishu University president office which invited Prof. Dr. Ali Sheikh Ahmed, MU Former president to lead the workshop. The workshop attended faculty deans, department directors and a number of admin & academic staff.
This event was held in a conference hall at Administration building in Mogadishu – Somalia on Monday 13, 2017. 


( 07- May-  2017 ) MU participates the 14th  General Conference of the Association of African Universities ( AAU) held in Accra, Ghana, from June 5 – 8, 2017.
Dr. Ali Dahir Mohamed Omar, vice president for Academic Affairs, was MU representative in this conference. Among the issues discussed in the conference a scientific symposium entitled “ AAU@50: Achievements, Challenges and Prospects for Sustainable Development in Africa.
The conference was an excellent opportunity for leaders of African universities to exchange ideas and experiences.


( 29- May-  2017 ) Mandeeq organization in Gothenburg, Sweden and Mogadishu University Distributes Food Assistance in Kismayo District

Mandeeq organization in Gothenburg, Sweden and Mogadishu University distributed food assistance to many drought victim families in Kismayo district, Jubaland State.The food items distributed include flour, sugar, milk, dates, and oil. to 150 drought victim families.

( 18 – May –  2017 )  On May 18, 2017, Mr.Ali Awil Ahmed successfully defended his master thesis entitled “A Proposal For Developing Educational Managment in Bakol Region”.

Mr. Awil was the fourth student to defend his master thesis at Mogadishu University post-graduate studies that began in 2015. Before 2015, Mogadishu University had implemented post-graduate studies through the partnership with other international universities.

The Department of Postgraduate Studies congratulates Mr.Awil on his master’s degree.


( 17 – May-  2017 ) In a commemoration of 74th anniversary of Somali Youth league, Student Affairs Office organized a symposium entitled the educated generation and the desired development in Somalia held in at MU Ex-Control Campus.


( 10 – May-  2017 ) Mogadishu University participated in International Universities Search & Rescue Council (IUSARC); General Council Meeting, NUSARGames-2017, and International Disaster Management Symposium.

The Program held on Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus between the dates 23 -28 April 2017, Organized by International Universities Search and Rescue Council (IUSARC).


( 09 – May-  2017 ) Mogadishu University ranks in the top 200 world most popular University Facebook pages UniRank has published its first Facebook University Ranking in 2017 and  Mogadishu University ranked to the top 200 most popular Universities on Facebook pages in the world out of a total of 7,311 Facebook University pages. The ranking was based on the total number of page likes or fans count on facebook.
UniRank was established in 2005 and based in Sydney. UniRank is an international higher education directory and search engine which includes over 12,000 accredited Universities and Colleges worldwide.



( 10 – April –  2017 ) A workshop on rules and regulations organized by the Faculty of Sharia and Law was held April 8, 2017 for the students of the faculty. During the workshop, which was oriented, variety of issues regarding general code of conduct, rules and regulations of the exam was discussed. The administration of the faculty stressed that “Any breach of the rules and regulations, whether committed intentionally or unintentionally may be regarded as “misconduct”, and dealt with under the University’s Discipline procedures”.


( 04 – April –  2017 ) Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law  Paid  a visit to the Central Library.

Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law,Abdulkadir Sheikh Ahmed   visited the central  libarary of MU  where he observed research activities. During his visit, the dean  met several students who were engaged in research activities in the library and he encouraged them to double their research activities and wished them all success.  


( 30 – March –  2017 )  To help meet emergency food assistance needs, Mogadishu University distributed food items such as rice, sugar, milk, dates, oil, plastic sheeting and bottled water to more than 200 drought victim families in villages under Bal’ad District, Middle Shabelle.
